Swiss Lathe Machining

Sliding-headstock turning for slender, high-precision shafts, pins, connectors and fasteners produced in high volume.

Swiss Lathe

Micro-Precision Turned Components

Swiss-type CNC lathes guide the workpiece close to the cutting tool, eliminating deflection on long, thin parts. This makes them ideal for medical, electronics and connector components requiring tight tolerances and excellent surface finish at scale.

  • Sliding-headstock Swiss turning
  • Diameters from Ø0.5 to Ø32 mm
  • Tolerances to ±0.005 mm
  • Live tooling: milling, drilling, threading
  • High-volume production efficiency
  • Medical, connector & electronics parts

FAQ

Swiss Lathe Questions

What diameter range do you turn?
Our Swiss CNC lathes handle bar stock from Ø 1 mm up to Ø 32 mm, with lengths and features tailored to slender, high-aspect-ratio parts.
What tolerances are achievable?
Swiss turning holds diameters to ±0.005 mm and maintains ±0.01 mm repeatability across long production runs thanks to guide-bushing support and SPC monitoring.
Is Swiss turning cost-effective for low volumes?
It excels at medium-to-high volumes (typically 100+ pcs). For one-offs and prototypes, our CNC turning centres are usually more economical — we'll recommend the best route when quoting.
Can you do secondary operations in one setup?
Yes. Live tooling lets us cross-drill, mill, slot, thread and knurl during the turning cycle, eliminating secondary handling and improving concentricity.
